Because while I definitely believe in what they stand for and wish to join the fight, the cynical criminal CEO Wheelerguy thinks they’re all little more than pawns to...something. Definitely a rival kingpin, who knows.
Also I’m disappointed that the same kind of activism in the Philippines gets you a communist tag and death. partly because the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! exists but also because punkasses like the admins exist.
Frankly, I only made this post because pretty sure you missed Super Formula again.

I’m sure they have the support of their parents, but they are old enough to have opinions of their own.
It’s a bit stunning to me that we are seriously fucking up the world and the question is about these kids instead of the rich old people who don’t care.

They’re funded by student loans they hope they never need to repay, yet for some reason they want the Earth to be inhabitable long enough to be forced to pay them back...

Not worried. I have Seasons 1-3 backed up offsite and ready-to-binge.
Hey, what’s going on at Steel Mountain this week?

Oh sure. You. A second-rate chode who only ever got the job because your boss found you fecund and nothing more. You never worked as hard as I did, never slogged and hustles as long as I did. I built my criminal conglomerate from bedrock, because I came from bedrock—the very bottom.

I’d like to think I would. I believe we live in a society, and have obligations to those around us.

Th e concept of a social contract only applies to poor people. If you can afford to hire a private army that can challenge that of governments , society’s rules don’t really apply to you.
It always comes down to who has the bigger stick and these days it seems like multinational corporations and even some individual persons have sticks comparable to some governments.

It’s the same nutjobs that were backing the kids from FL out hawking gun grabbing after the school shooting there. They even have the same talking points and delivery style !
P eople that age can certainly form their own opinions and so on and so forth - But these ones are clearly being pushed by nefarious adults.

I think they realize that if they don’t do something, their may not be a planet on which to trample those poorer than them if they do manage to get rich.

As a 21 year-old, I dread the day I gain the perspective of the very people I despis e and realizing that they’re right, that it really is better. That if I get rich and powerful, I get corrupted. Because it seems inevitable—bad behavior almost always is good politics (Dictator’s Handbook), yet without power, I’m a useless Wheelerguy. How do I resolve that? S ure, pure perfection is impossible, but just how hard is it to actually change the world without being an unforgivable monster to a certain group?
And would it mean that once Thunberg becomes prime minister, she’ll turn back on the very ideals she championed? I don’t think so, but is there a high chance of it happening?

Of course she will. And if she doesn’t, that would be worse because it would mean that she’s a shitty person incapable of growing up.
That’s the thing about growing up. You gain perspective and realize that life has consequences and drawbacks and the shiny ideals of youth AREN’T PURELY A GOOD THING.
It’s not co rru ption, not really. It’s a realization that compromise isnt inherently terrible. That even though you really, truly, passionately believe in your cause, your view isn't the only valid one, and other people who disagree with you might have a point as well. So, to be a good leader, you need to balance those interests and try to build something that actually works in the real world.
